my magic murder bag

chancecrafts:

I’ll get you, Dr. Venture!

BOOM! Here’s a new fan art by me based on some characters from Venture Bros. Venture Time returns this month! Then it goes away again until early next year! I honestly almost just about fell out of love with this show. I guess I grew tired of missing my favorite show. And screaming into my pillow. And going on internets to talk about it until next week’s episode. There was the Shallow Gravy special last year but 2 1/2+ years between seasons is a lot of waiting around. This years Venture panel at SDCC was fun, but also the idea of waiting some more left me kind of dead inside, like I was showing up out of habit. But it’s Jackson and Doc’s baby. And babies take time! And the time has come for us fans to be rewarded/thrown a bone for our patience! Them boys are probably my only exception to the “don’t meet your heroes” rule. Most creative types I’ve hero-worshiped and met in real life turned out to be bland and uninterested in my appreciation (comics artists, am I rite?) But if you were to meet Doc Hammer and express your love of the show, his art, his music he WILL reciprocate! So prepare your body should you ever encounter his reedy frame. Anyway, I ran out of bullshit to say so…
Butt pee.

Anyway, enjoy a dancing Hank.

And of course, Brock Samson.  Once again, another group of henchmen I made up, who are somewhere between the Rocketeer and the colors of Hank’s 60’s style Batman costume.

Working on these was a lot of fun and a great deviation from the normal editorial assignments I get.  Big thanks to Duke Aber and Paul Byk over at Turner!

And be sure to check out all of my Venture Bros illustrations in the special Adult Swim issue of Juxtapoz, in stores now!

The last two!  What would a Venture Bros spread be without Doc Venture being attacked by a Johnny Quest walking-eye?

This was the most difficult of the four to design because it had a lot of action but I had to steer clear of the gutter (where the pages are stapled in the middle).  I haven’t seen it in print yet but hopefully it worked out okay compositionally.
